Beth Woods on Bowhayes Farm

Several months ago I met Lucinda McAlpine for the first time having heard about the very interesting work she was doing with horses. In my early twenties I worked an trained with horses but eventually found that my nerve was going and I didn’t feel comfortable with how most of the horses were going and I didn’t feel comfortable with how most of the horses I worked with were being treated, so I moved on and had a family and eventually started my own business. Now in my early forties I have secondary cancer and the need to spend time with these beautiful and powerful creatures has returned. Knowing that things were done differently, kindly, gently at Bowhayes Farm was what made me come. I cannot recommend a visit strongly enough, I don’t ride as I am too ill but spend time just being with horses an have witnessed some truly special moments when horses heal as they work through physical and emotional problems that they carried for years.
